Samsung is gearing up to launch an innovative smart fridge in the upcoming year, introducing the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ at CES. This cutting-edge appliance boasts an internal camera capable of identifying individual food items and a connected app that suggests recipes based on your stocked ingredients. The 32-inch Family Hub touchscreen enables users to mirror their Galaxy phones and even access separate apps for TikTok and YouTube videos.

Enhancing previous features, the internal camera and Family Hub app now offer advanced capabilities. The Samsung Food app, accessible directly on the fridge, connects to your Samsung Health profile to customize recipes based on dietary needs. With an improved "Image to Recipe" feature using Vision AI, the app recognizes meals and generates recipes from photographs. A Personalize feature tailors recipes to dietary preferences such as gluten-free, pescatarian, dairy-free, vegan, and fusion.

While the Vision AI feature can identify up to 33 food items, the fridge has some limitations. Users can manually input expiration dates on the Family Hub touchscreen to receive notifications before items expire. This marks a shift in Samsung's focus, emphasizing AI features over Internet of Things integrations in its smart fridge lineup, reflecting the evolution of smart home and AI technology since the release of the first smart fridge in 2016.

Looking ahead, Samsung positions the 2024 model as the centerpiece for its AI kitchen products and the broader Samsung ecosystem. Alongside the smart fridge, Samsung is set to unveil the 2024 model of its cooktop, named the Anyplace Induction Cooktop. Equipped with a slide-in range to fit between kitchen cabinets, both the cooktop and slide-in range feature seven-inch LCD screens for viewing recipes from the Samsung Food app while cooking.
