Wisconsin's Creuziger family has inked a deal to sell 407 acres, featuring a local pumpkin farm attraction, to Microsoft for a hefty $76 million, according to Milwaukee Business Journal reports. Initially offered a third of the sum by the local government in 2017 as part of a Foxconn agreement, the family opted for patience. Microsoft's acquisition includes the Land of the Giants pumpkin farm and a corn maze, adjacent to another 641 acres bought from Mount Pleasant for $99.7 million. The tech giant aims to construct a $1 billion data center campus in the region, a welcome development after Foxconn's earlier investment uncertainties.

In response, the Creuziger family's attorney, David Barnes, conveyed their well-wishes to the village and Microsoft, emphasizing a desire for privacy. Microsoft's strategic move aligns with its plan to establish a significant data center presence, initially employing 200 individuals in Mount Pleasant with potential future expansion to over 460 jobs. This marks a positive turn of events for the village following Foxconn's scaled-back investment plans two years ago, relieving years of uncertainty.
