Amazon has recently revealed its upcoming launch of Fire TV Channels that would offer customers free access to an extensive range of premium content through Fire streaming sticks, streaming boxes, and Fire-branded televisions. The company assures its customers that there will be no mandatory sign-ups or charges associated with the content.
The service would provide a wealth of free content on local and national news, sports, travel, cooking, music videos, classic TV shows, and much more. Amazon has collaborated with professional NHL hockey, PGA golf, TMZ gossip site, ABC News, and media conglomerate Condé Nast, among others, to offer a broad spectrum of content. The company has secured over 400 publishing partners in preparation for the summer launch.
This service relies on advertisements for revenue. If you don't like hearing the Liberty Mutual jingle, you may want to find content elsewhere. Amazon already has some fast channels with ads, but this is a big addition to their platform. Moreover, Fire device users can easily access a "Free" tab on their home screen for browsing. This tab is organized into specific categories for easy navigation.
Charlotte Maines, the director of Fire TV advertising, monetization, and engagement, explained that Fire TV Channels provides a straightforward, category-focused interface that simplifies the process of discovering desired content, all while frequently adding to its array of options.
The company has announced that its channels will showcase live, linear, and VOD content. Additionally, it has promised to keep adding new content throughout the day, so binge-watching enthusiasts can indulge to their heart's content. It is worth noting that Amazon is not the only player in the FAST space, as Roku and Google have also launched their own offerings with a vast selection of channels.
